Advisory Bodies
The General Plan Update is a comprehensive project that includes review of all existing elements, or chapters, that have guided the City’s development in the last fifty years. As we prepare this visionary and far-reaching document, advisory bodies will be convened to supplement public engagement activities and provide input during key phases or on special topics that affect the General Plan Update.
GPAC Swearing-In Ceremony held during the GPAC Open House on September 4, 2019.
GENERAL PLAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (GPAC)
In spring/summer 2018, City Council established the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) to advise on the GPU. The GPAC has 21 members appointed by City Council. Its primary roles are to:
Provide insight to the project team on how to address key issues and understand sensitive community needs.
Review and provide comments on GPU work products.
Inform the community of the process and help to build community support for and engagement with the GPU process.
GPAC members may also choose to play an active role in community events by facilitating and encouraging public participation. The GPAC is an advisory body and will not make decisions or take actions on the GPU. Access materials for upcoming and past GPAC meetings through the calendar and the meetings summary page.
Technical Advisory Committees (TACs)
Along with the GPAC, the project team established six technical advisory committees (TACs) that will explore innovative ideas and emerging topics of importance for the GPU. These TACs are informal and comprised of community members and experts who will work with the project team to develop ideas on how to address: Arts and Culture; Economic Development; Housing; Sustainability, Health, Parks, and Public Spaces; Transportation and Mobility; and Policing and Public Safety.
